Kholwa, which means "believe" in Xhosa or Zulu, epitomises the vision of a young, visionary and creative lady, Lerato Sekoboto. It stems from a journey of buried talents where she decided to pick up the spade that she used to bury her dreams to dig them up again.

Kholwa understands that each client’s personal preference differs and takes pride in ensuring that each client’s uniqueness is conveyed and displayed into his or her living space by also integrating comfort and functionality.

Influenced by movements in art, architecture and interior design including the elegance of modernism, to the uncertainty and unpredictable nature of post modernism; embracing the outrageous “no rules apply” uniqueness of deconstructivism; and the supreme perfection of photorealism. All creative inspiration is drawn from centuries of artists, painters and creators of lifestyles in order to acquaint the designer with the diverse nature of trends existing that can influence and be tailored to meet each client’s needs, personality, look and at the same time achieving comfort and functionality.

Deletewow thats all i can say but welldone man i think its high time people get to know about these guys and what they are capable of.
ReplyDeleteYeah Vincent, I agree, but credit must be given to the lady who's doing the hard work. It is time that young gifted, proud and black be more informed with what lies within their reach.
DeleteA very hard proffesion to get into, but we want more black foulks into it because it's mostly dominated by white.
ReplyDeleteAgreed Jab, it is a hard proffesion, but nothing is easy in life hence the fruits of our labour are ever so sweet!I suppose the true essence of a democratic national where young, gifted and black are making their black Zebra stripes on such a white dominated filed of expectise. There are a lot of black owned interior decor nad design companies whom we look up to and hope that one of these good days we might be pitching in the same league!#SALUTATIONS**** to Kholwa.MokD
DeleteWow at long last, there comes a beautiful black woman in the field that is domonated by the white folks. Hope some woman will find this interesting and follow their hearts and dreams and be reckoned.
ReplyDelete#SALUTAIONS**** As long as we keep the movement alive...MokD
DeleteSaloma to answer your question, Kholwa is still very recent and has no projects as yet, my aim currently is to advertise it to create a client base. I cannot take credit for the pictures on the blog, they are ment to give people an idea of the movements in art, architecture and interior decoration that are referred to in the blog where Kholwa draws it's inspiration from. My own work will be displayed as soon as my projects are up and running. To everyone else thank you for the support and positive feedback I believe I will make a success out of it and make you proud. I'm looking forward to reap the fruits of this journey. Lerato
ReplyDeleteIn all honesty, you are on the right track...#SALUTE****MokD
DeleteI would also like to see people from the townships taking an interest in getting their houses transformed.I think its a posisitive in township development.
ReplyDeleteI would die for a room like that at anytime. I hope Kholwa is also easy on our pockets because if it's hoping to reach out to the township, their projects should match with the living conditions of its target audience and either than that i am glad that South African designers are not giving up on their country even though there isnt much support from our citizine but slowly but surely South Africans will start to see your talent for what it really is.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing, creative and beautiful. I will definately check out thier website and give details to relevant audiences.
